How it works
1. List your materials
Cord at 0.40 a metre, clasps at 0.85 each, a gift bag at 0.30. Add how many you have on the shelf, and the ledger counts them down as things sell.
2. Build each product as a recipe
2.5 m cord + 1 clasp + 1 gift bag + 12 minutes of work. The material cost per item is worked out for you, and every past sale updates when a price changes.
3. Import Etsy's order CSV
Download the Order Items file from Shop Manager and drop it in. Lines are matched to products by SKU or listing title. Importing the same month twice does not count anything twice.
What comes off every sale
- Material cost, from the recipe
- Etsy transaction fee on the item price and shipping
- The listing fee Etsy charges again for each item sold
- Payment processing, set to what your country pays
- Your postage per order, split across the items in it
- One editable tax / other fee % line for everything else
- Your time, if you give yourself an hourly rate
Every rate is an editable number, so when Etsy changes a fee you change one field instead of every formula.
Your numbers stay on your computer
There is no account and no copy on a server. The ledger is stored in your browser, and you can download it as a backup file at any time, or export your sales with profit columns as a CSV for the spreadsheet you already have. MakerLedger never connects to your Etsy account, so there is nothing to authorise and nothing to revoke.
What it does not do
No automatic order sync, no VAT or sales-tax engine, no multi-shop inventory. It reads the CSV Etsy already lets you download and does the maths a spreadsheet makes you do by hand.
What it costs
