Know what you have. Know what to buy.
A stock book for one-person makers and stallholders. Scan a barcode or tap a tile to move a count by one, and MakerLedger works out what to reorder from your own usage — no spreadsheet, no accounts suite.
Free, and nothing to install. It runs in your browser, there is no account, and your stock never leaves your device.
Bring the spreadsheet
Export your stock sheet as CSV and drop it in. Column headings are matched in English and Norwegian, and the import shows you which column it read as the count and which as the cost before it changes a single row. Re-import the same file later and it updates the rows instead of doubling them.
Count in one tap
Set the direction once — out on a market day, in on delivery day — then scan a barcode with the phone camera, or with the USB scanner you already own, and the number moves. Handmade things that never had a barcode get a tile you tap. One movement, one tap, and an undo that does not poison the average.
Get one 'buy this' screen
From the movements you have recorded, MakerLedger works out what is going to run out before a delivery could arrive, and puts it on a single screen with a quantity and a cost. Export it as CSV or mail it to yourself, then order from it.
The arithmetic, in full
There is no forecasting model here and no machine learning. MakerLedger averages what actually left your shelf over the last few weeks, multiplies it by how long your supplier takes, adds a buffer you choose, and compares that to what you have. Every line on the reorder screen shows its own working, so you can check it — and override it, because you know things the arithmetic does not.
reorder level = average weekly usage × (lead time in weeks + buffer weeks)
Say you sell 10 clasps a week, your supplier takes 14 days, and you keep one week of buffer. The level is 10 × (2 + 1) = 30. The moment your count drops to 30 or below, the clasps appear on the buy-this screen — with enough to cover the lead time plus the four weeks after it.
Your stock book lives on your device
Everything is stored locally, in the browser, on the device you counted with. It works with no signal, which matters at a market stall in a field, and nothing about your stock is sent anywhere. Export the whole book back out as CSV whenever you like — it is your data, in a format every spreadsheet reads. A single-user cloud copy for keeping a phone and a laptop in step is the next thing being built; until it exists, the app does not pretend otherwise.
What it deliberately is not
Every stock tool in this space grows into a bookkeeping platform and loses the person who just wanted to know how many clasps are left. This one is allowed to stay small:
- No marketplace integrations. It does not log in to Etsy, eBay or a shop platform on your behalf.
- No invoicing. It does not produce invoices, quotes or receipts.
- No tax reports. It is not a cost-of-goods-sold engine and it will not file anything.
- No accounts suite. It counts stock and tells you what to buy. That is the whole product.
Free, and here is why
MakerLedger keeps your stock book on your own device, so there is no database of yours for us to run and no per-user cost to recover — it costs us nothing beyond being on our server, so it costs you nothing. Every part of it is here for everyone, with no account to make and nothing held back. If it saves you an evening and you want to chip in anyway, there is a box below for that, and ignoring it is the normal answer.
